Seychelles Makes An Impact At Mumbai's Satte
The Seychelles recently sent a delegation to South Asia's premier B2B tourism event, which is being held in India's New Delhi and Mumbai. With India becoming one of those rapidly growing markets on the global tourism stage, it was important for both India and the Seychelles to make an impression. The 19th edition of the SATTE brought together 33 countries from around Asia. The Seychelles sent a delegation consisting of Marketing Executive Mavreen Poupouneau, Senior Marketing Executive Stephanie Lablache, and three local trade partners representing the community. These figures went to boost the reputation of Seychelles luxury holidays around the world, as well as attempting to encourage some investment in the country. This is particularly important after the Seychelles Tourism Board, and a number of other countries in the region, predicted an arrival count of one million. Mr. Parvez Dewan, the Secretary General for the Ministry of Tourism in India, made the Seychelles' first day at the SATTE particularly memorable by offering a courtesy visit. He also brought a small USB Coco de Mer as a symbol of his gratitude. The initial day was particularly eventful as a number of potential investors visited the stand and described how they were interested in potentially dealing with local partners. It also conducted an interview with Lifestyle magazine about its promotion efforts in India. The Seychelles intends on erecting a stand at both the fair in New Delhi and Mumbai. The Seychelles Tourism Board is confident of its prospects, in relation to the Indian continent. As living standards rise and people gain more disposable income, there is more of a chance that they will consider exotic destinations like the Seychelles in their holidaying decisions. At the SATTE, the country is placing significant emphasis on its cost-effective luxury holidays. By allowing visitors of all incomes to taste the luxury of this exotic destination, it is hoped the country can expand its audience and reduce its tourism dependence on Europe, which is suffering the effects of the global economic downturn. In terms of arrivals from India, the Seychelles welcomed a 2% growth. However, by targeting the SATTE and putting lots of strength and power behind it, it is hoped that the country can make a big impression in the aftermath of this major entry in the 2013 tourism calendar. Mrs. Elsia Grandcourt, the CEO for the Seychelles Tourism Board, said the event would give the Seychelles some much-needed publicity in a region that is experiencing significant growth on the world stage. The success of this event helps to supplement the recent training academy opened by the country. It is committed to overtaking its rivals in the area (mainly Mauritius and the Maldives) whilst also benefiting the local community by giving them a real chance at achieving highly.
