Dubai Begins Promotional Tour For Dsf 2013 In Kuwait
Continuing to find ways to bolster its tourism industry with its Dubai luxury holidays , the Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment (DEPE) recently held a press conference in Kuwait to promote the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) in 2013. The agency, which comes under the umbrella of Dubai's Department of Economic Development (DED), held the press conference in Kuwait's Regency Hotel where they promoted DSF and some of the unique benefits of the latest instalment of the 32-day festival. Using the slogan ‘Dubai at its Best’ the delegation led by members from various government departments and the destination's travel sector, it entertained a considerable number of journalists and representatives from Kuwait's media and tourism sectors. Some of Dubai's delegation came from Emirates Airline, the General Directorate of Residence and Foreign Affairs (DNRD), and the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM). Dubai chose Kuwait especially for the first leg of its DSF promotional tour because of the increase in tourists visiting Kuwait. The latest available statistics highlighted how 226,328 visitors travelled from Kuwait to Dubai in the initial nine months of 2012, which shows a 5% increase over the same period in 2011. Dubai's DSF festival is one of the most important events of the year as in 2011 figures showed the month-long event attracted 3.98 million people who spent Dhs15.1bn. The Festivals Coordinator General, DEPE, Ibrahim Saleh commented: "The GCC has been and remains a core market for DSF not only due to geographical proximity but also for the fact that we share the same values and cultural backgrounds. The festival's marketing slogan 'Dubai at its Best' signifies the best of everything that the vibrant emirate stands for, especially during DSF, when it offers unparalleled and unforgettable experiences to visitors and residents alike." He continued to speak about the effect of Dubai being crowed the World Festival and Event City for the second year running. Saleh elaborated on how it served to drive forward the DEPE to even greater heights, specifically in relation to customer service and the overall tourist experience. Saleh also had a special message for the Kuwaiti media about the DSF: "DSF 2013 will have a new and gala opening, which will offer a preview about how big and unique the festival is and what it will offer its visitors - from events, activities and promotions to carnivals, fireworks and much more. The festival will also hold raffle draws for gold as well as luxury cars (Nissan, Infiniti and Ferrari), and will feature unique plays and concerts by top international and Arab artists."
