Cyprus - The Perfect Destination For A Luxury Holiday
British holidaymakers heading off for their summer holidays are no doubt checking the weather forecasts for the destinations to which they will be travelling. Many hope for warm sunshine with no chance of rain; most will get that, particularly at this time of year. However, for those heading off to Cyprus in the next week or two, the predicted temperatures may not be welcome news for all. The capital city of Nicosia is set to see temperatures soar to around 40oC in the coming days. Those staying in coastal resorts such as Limassol, Paphos and Ayia Napa will probably see temperatures a few degrees lower at between 33oC and 35oC. While some will be delighted at the news, health officials are warning people to take care and to stay hydrated. Those with health conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, asthma, and heart disease should take particular care while those travelling with children and the elderly need to be aware of the dangers of spending too much time in the hot sun. Luxury Resorts Luckily, Cyprus has a large number of fantastic resorts with full air conditioning and fabulous pools with shaded areas so that guests can stay cool in the warm sunshine. Those travelling to the beautiful Mediterranean island of Cyprus have a choice of stunning coastal resorts to choose from, all with fabulous hotels, apartments, and villas where they will have the holiday of a lifetime. While Cyprus is a popular destination for holidays during the British summer, it is also an ideal winter holiday destination. Many people actually prefer to travel to the island from October to May because the weather is more bearable. The great thing about Cyprus is that there is plenty to do on the island all year round, and the friendly people will ensure you have an enjoyable holiday every time. Things to Do in Cyprus The Tombs of the Kings in Paphos is a large ancient burial ground that has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This tourist attraction is hugely popular and has a number of tombs dating back as far as the fourth century BC. Many wrongly assume that there are ancient kings buried at the site, but the name comes from the fact that the tombs are so magnificent, not that there are actually any kings buried there. Cyprus is also well known for its myths and legends, none more so than Aphrodite’s Rock. Legend has it that the rock was the birthplace of the Greek goddess of love Aphrodite. The sea around the rock is quite rough, so it is not advisable to swim there, and climbing the rock itself is prohibited. However, many tourists visit the surrounding areas to take photos of this famous attraction.
