The cornerstone was laid in 1971 on a site of extraordinary historical significance: this stretch of coastline was once the domain of Ancient Amathus, one of Cyprus's nine ancient city-kingdoms, dating back as far as the 11th century BC. To this day, two visitable archaic tombs from the Amathunta necropolis (750–475 BCE) are preserved within the hotel grounds for guests to explore – and in 2022, during construction of the new Amathus Residences building, yet another tomb from the same period was discovered and is now also accessible to guests.

Celebrating its golden jubilee in 2023, the Amathus Beach Hotel has earned its place as one of Cyprus's most consistently acclaimed luxury hotels. Since 1986, it has been the first and longest-standing member of The Leading Hotels of the World in Cyprus. Amathus Beach Hotel Limassol is located in Agios Tychonas on the eastern leisure coast of Limassol, positioned midway between Cyprus's two international airports. Larnaca International Airport (LCA) is approximately 58 km east – around 40–45 minutes by car. Paphos International Airport (PFO) is approximately 69 km west – around 50–60 minutes by car.
